Medicare provides coverage for exercise physiology services when you have a GP referral or are under a Chronic Disease Management plan. Under this plan, you are entitled to up to five rebateable sessions per calendar year. Most private clinics charge gap fees, which are the costs not covered by Medicare, and these must be paid at the time of your appointment. To claim, simply bring your Medicare card and ensure your referral is up to date. Many clinics also offer direct billing to streamline the Medicare claim process.

Steps to Claim Your Medicare Rebate with Medipass
- Bring Medicare Card: Ensure your Medicare card is ready for your first visit to set up Medipass.
- Check SMS: After your session, you’ll receive an SMS with a Medipass link. Log in or input your details to proceed.
- Act Quickly: You have 15 minutes to complete the transaction—keep your mobile handy.
- Enable Location: Turn on location sharing on your device.
- View Costs: I’ll enter your Medicare details, and you’ll see the Medicare benefit and any gap costs on-screen.
- Full Payment Required: Complete the full payment at the clinic. The Medicare rebate usually takes 24-48 hours to be credited back to your bank account.
- Approve: Enter your card details and tap "Approve" to finalise the claim and payment. All done!
